- We strive to make sure that every child has a chance to learn and grow at their pace and not at a pace that is forced upon them. Our approach is to look at their individual needs and tailor their learning based on where they are, and the goals set forth for them.

- We want every parent/guardian to drop off their child with confidence in knowing that quality care and supervision is being implemented. We make it our mission to make sure your little one feels loved and is accepted by all.
Engagement of learning through play and structured curriculum
- While your child is in our care they will always learn in some matter. Whether it be through play with their peers or a structured learning time with their teacher in an assigned area.
Building confidence and respect
- Seeing kids thrive and grow as their own individuals is a beautiful thing. We want to make sure we continue to give them the space and tools to grow confident in themselves and while building healthy relationships with their peers. We also believe that giving and receiving respect is one of the top priorities and will help them be the best little humans they can be.

Meet the Owner

Courageous Learners was founded in 2023 by Yolanda Swain who is a Toledo native. She is an alumnus for the University of Toledo and played four years of Division 1 collegiate basketball while receiving her bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy. Yolanda was a substitute teacher for Toledo Public School for all grades ranging from preschool to high school. She has worked in the Developmental Disability field for 8 years and has worked with those whose ages range from young children to elderly adults.

Yolanda has a passion for the care of others and strives to make sure that everyone around her feels included, seen, and heard. Caretaking has always been a second nature to her and caring for your children is something that she takes great ownership in. She continues to increase her knowledge and learning by staying up to date on professional development opportunities in order to be the best leader she can be for your children.

Yolanda has 3 wonderful children Xavier, Justice, and Eshe with her husband Ben. She is also an assistant AAU coach for her son's 10u team, The WolfPack!
